Why Austin Homeowners Choose Lennox HVAC

We provide independent Lennox repair in Austin, and we’ve built our reputation on the variable-capacity XC/XP, Merit, and Dave Lennox Signature lines that fill this city’s homes. Our techs stock Lennox-specific diagnostic protocols and boards for the exact models local homeowners run, which means we diagnose faster and fix it right the first visit. We’re not authorized by Lennox, and we’ll tell you that straight up. What we are is an Austin HVAC company with deep hands-on time inside these units, from the Elite XC25 inverter boards to the SLP98V modulating furnaces. Call (361) 202-9170 and talk to a live person, day or night.

Why Trust Halden Heating and Air Austin for Your Lennox HVAC?

Andre Fuller, our owner, grew up in Los Angeles and learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending decades turning wrenches on everything from rooftop package units to high-efficiency heat pumps. He’s been serving Austin homeowners for years, including plenty of calls out near the Domain where summer heat hits a second-story unit like a punishment. His rule has never changed: put the price and the guarantee in writing before anyone opens a panel.

That’s why our Lennox work in Austin follows one standard. Every repair gets a written price before work starts, a written guarantee on the repair itself, and a free second visit if that fix fails within the coverage window. No arguing. No phone tag. Our techs are background-checked, uniformed, and sent with a live arrival time you can track on your phone, not a four-hour window. When a Lennox iComfort thermostat drops communication or an XC25 inverter throws a fault after a storm, you want someone who has seen that exact failure before, not someone reading a manual for the first time.

We carry the right diagnostic equipment for Lennox communicating systems. That means we can actually talk to the unit, read error histories, and verify proper staging, not guess. Andre built Halden Heating and Air on one simple idea: trust shouldn’t depend on a handshake. We put it in writing before we touch a thing.

Common Lennox HVAC Problems We Fix in Austin

  • Variable-capacity inverter board failures on XC25 units. Austin’s summer voltage sags, especially in older neighborhoods with stressed transformers, hit these inverter boards hard. A failing DC-link capacitor on the board will cause short cycling with no error code on the thermostat. We caught exactly this in Mueller: an XC25 dropping out under load, no codes, and it was a failing capacitor on the inverter board. We replaced the board with an OEM unit and verified amp draw across all five compressor stages. The system held 18.5 SEER performance the next hot afternoon.
  • SLP98V inducer motor bearing whine at 7 to 10 years. The Dave Lennox Signature SLP98V is a modulating furnace, and its inducer motor runs at variable speeds constantly. That’s efficient, but it also wears bearings faster than a single-stage inducer. We hear a high-pitched whine that gets louder before the inducer fails outright. Replacing the inducer motor is a straightforward fix, and it’s far cheaper than a furnace swap.
  • Merit series capacitor degradation in attic heat above 130°F. The ML14 and ML17 single-stage ACs are workhorses, but their capacitors sit in Austin attics that hit 130°F or more from June through September. Capacitors are rated for a certain temperature range, and sustained attic heat pushes them past it. The dielectric breaks down, the capacitor bulges, and the compressor or fan won’t start. We replace these often, and we offer a quality aftermarket capacitor with a 1-year warranty for Merit units where the factory part is just as heat-sensitive.
  • iComfort thermostat communication dropouts with older firmware. Lennox’s iComfort S30 and older iComfort Wi-Fi thermostats communicate digitally with the furnace and AC. When firmware is outdated, the thermostat can lose connection to the system, freeze, or show incorrect temperatures. The fix is usually a firmware update and a re-pairing sequence, but you need the right software and the right sequence. We have both.
  • Elite EL296V two-stage gas valve sticking. The EL296V is a two-stage, variable-speed furnace, and its gas valve is an electronic modulating part that cycles constantly. After 10-plus years, the valve can stick partially open or fail to open at all, leading to short cycling, ignition lockouts, or a furnace that runs but won’t produce full heat. We diagnose the valve directly and replace it with an OEM part when needed.

Lennox Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

For Lennox communicating systems like the XC20, XC25, or SLP98V, we use OEM Lennox boards, sensors, and motors. These units talk to each other digitally, and aftermarket parts often don’t speak the same language. That’s how you lose iComfort functionality and end up with a system that runs but won’t modulate. For non-communicating Merit units, we offer quality aftermarket capacitors and contactors with a 1-year warranty, because those parts are generic electrical components and the factory markup isn’t worth it for a single-stage unit.

On a Lennox system over 12 years old with a failed compressor or heat exchanger, we quote both repair and high-efficiency replacement. You get the real lifecycle cost, not a sales pitch. For example, a compressor on a 13-year-old XC25 might cost $2,500 to repair, but a new high-efficiency unit with a 10-year parts warranty could be the smarter spend. We’ll show you both numbers and let you choose. Call (361) 202-9170 if you want an honest read on AC Repair.

Our Lennox Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. Your tech arrives with a live arrival time you tracked on your phone. We start by listening to the system, reading any fault codes from the iComfort thermostat or control board, and checking the specific Lennox failure points we know from Austin’s climate: inverter boards, capacitors, inducer motors, and gas valves. We’ll show you what we found and explain it in plain English, with a written price before any work starts.
  2. 2
Repair or replacement. We only install the parts that make sense for your specific Lennox model. Communicating system? OEM part. Merit single-stage? We’ll offer the aftermarket option with our 1-year warranty if it saves you money. For replacement, we’ll handle the load calculation, not just swap a box. Austin’s housing stock is a patchwork of new high-efficiency builds next to 1950s-80s homes with undersized ducts, so sizing matters.
  3. 3
Testing and verification. After the fix, we run the system through its full staging sequence. For variable-capacity Lennox units, that means verifying amp draw at every compressor stage and confirming the iComfort thermostat shows correct temperatures and no communication errors. We’ll show you before-and-after readings.
  4. 4
Warranty in writing. Every repair comes with a written guarantee. If that fix fails within the coverage window, we come back at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s included on every job, not sold as an add-on.
